Why are abdominals so important?

The abdominals which are primary core muscles, are important to keep strong if you wish to move well, and stay confident in your ability to keep active.  They play key roles in protecting and stabilising the structures in our back, and performing even simple tasks such as rising from a chair, turning while lying in bed, or getting up from sitting on the floor.
